or Christmas Keith treated me to a get away at Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa, without the kids. It was perhaps the best present ever.
Since 1865 Mountain View Grand has been an inspiring New Hampshire White Mountain resort, noted for its beautiful surroundings, on 400 landscaped acres, set inside an adjacent 1,300 acres, overlooking the White Mountains and Presidential Range in Whitefield, New Hampshire. This celebrated landmark hotel evokes the classic New Hampshire charm and ambiance of the turn of the century, when times were much simpler. Today, like 100 years ago, the expansive front veranda affords guests stunning, panoramic views of the White Mountains while they enjoy the crisp mountain air. At this classic New Hampshire resort hotel, the grand tradition of resting, relaxing and rejuvenating continues year-round.
Keith and I drove through a snow storm to get to the resort. On the way we came across a Jeep that had just rolled over. The mother and seven year-old daughter were standing outside in the cold. Keith and I offered to help, thankfully they only need the warmth of our car and were otherwise unharmed.
Upon arriving we were informed we were upgrade to a luxury suite. We then unpacked and went to the tavern for dinner. After dinner we played a few games in which we did not keep score: Pool (Keith Won), Checkers (Keith Won), & Air Hockey (I Won).We then went down to the hot tub for a few hours. There we met a nice couple and their son.We ended the evening with a movie in the hotel's movie theater. The next day we awoke to a room service breakfast and got ready for snow mobiling. This was my present to Keith. Anyone who knows me well will know that I am NOT the adventuress type. Sure I've gone sky diving, but that's only because it looked like so much fun in the movie "Drop Zone". The main reason I did not think I'd like snow mobiling is because I hate the cold and I hate snow because it is cold and wet. But nonetheless I said I'd go. Keith helped to make the experience better by letting me wear his ski pants and gloves. What a gentleman! The first hour I was scared. Not because I was going fast, quite the contrary. The first hour I went about 10 miles an hour max. At one point during a break, Keith got off his snow mobile and told me I needed to go faster. After I figured out how to use the snow mobile I had a blast and got up to 30 miles an hour! At another break we all stopped. Keith was nowhere to be found. I thought to myself: "Ha, and he said I was going to slow!" Come to find out Keith's snow mobile ended up going off the path. After pushing it back on to the path the windshield blew off the front. He then had to go back for it and drive with one hand. Leave it to Keith! We then had a lunch. One of each appetizer on the tavern's menu. Back in the hotel room, Keith could not get enough of work. He used his new iPhone to answer e-mails and even make a post on the blog.We then had a couples massage. Just being in the spa was relaxing enough, away from the outside world (a feeling I have only felt at the temple)! The massage was so nice and needed. Keith enjoyed his massage so much he fell asleep and was snoring. We had a quiet dinner in our room and ended the night watching TV. We called home and the kids informed us that they didn't want us to come home. Nana should stay for eight more days. I am glad they love their Nana so much, but hoped we might be missed just a bit.
The next morning we packed up and headed home.
If you are ever looking for a get away spot fairly close to home. This is the place. Next time we might even bring the kids!

I'd love to hear your feedback and comments. I'd also love and suggestions to help me perfect my skills as I develop them. Have a question? I'll try to answer it for you right away.
The only think I ask is that negativity not be posted. You know that old saying your mother probably taught you? "If you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all!"
