Girls' Room Makeover

The girls have been begging for their room to be painted since we moved here in 2007.  Each time I painted another room in the house and each time we went to Lowe's or Home Depot the whining would start up.  The problem was the girls could not agree on a color and I did not want to do different colored walls or stripes. At first Kaitlyn wanted pink and Alyssa wanted purple.  Then Kaitlyn wanted blue and Alyssa wanted pink.  Then I discovered Pinterest!  I found a lot of inspiration.  And then I saw a photo of a room where the ceiling was painted.  This was the perfect solution to  make both girls happy. My girls are always going around making up dances and can't get of Disney's Shake It Up!  So then it dawned on me to make their room a dance studio.  Since we do dance portraits at three dance studios I was able to get some inspiration up close.
Here are the pictures of the transformations...

Step One: Rearrange Room & Paint Ceiling

Step Two: Paint Walls
The color on the left was the first shade I painted.  It was way to orange.  Thankfully Valspar is running a promotion where they will refund your money if you don't like your color.

Step Three: Hang Mirrors and Ballet Bar

Step Four: Hang Costumes

Step Five: Accessory Wall

Step Six: Build bedside table
(I bought this at target a few years ago and it's been stored under Alyssa's bed.)

Step Seven: Reorganize closet (AGAIN!)

Step Eight: Replace door knob
(I bought this on Ebay some time ago and it's been in my jewelry box)

Step Nine: Wall Art

I'd love to hear your feedback and comments. I'd also love and suggestions to help me perfect my skills as I develop them. Have a question? I'll try to answer it for you right away.

The only think I ask is that negativity not be posted. You know that old saying your mother probably taught you? "If you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all!"
