This past Sunday we went to an apple orchard with the Zinns to take their family pictures. Rachel was kind enough to let us swap roles and have her take some shots of us. It was so nice because we NEVER get any good pictures of us. I mean, sometimes we get some in the studio because it's easy, but that's always an ugly dumb backdrop. This was really special because it reflects the type of shots I seem to always take for other people but never get for ourselves. There's a style of lighting and composition that I'm starting to realize is kind of my 'style' and these pictures really look like the type I'd generally provide to a client - but it's US in the pictures. That really means a lot and I'm so glad we have them.
It really makes me appreciate what exactly I'm actually providing to my clients and the value in it. After a while pictures all start kind of looking alike and I get frustrated when I don't have new ideas, poses or styles. But in actuality the value is in the expressions of the people and the fact they're getting something they probably don't have much of - really good pictures of themselves.

I'd love to hear your feedback and comments. I'd also love and suggestions to help me perfect my skills as I develop them. Have a question? I'll try to answer it for you right away.
The only think I ask is that negativity not be posted. You know that old saying your mother probably taught you? "If you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all!"
